Take time to stop and smell the roses… Tango Style

Posted on June 9, 2010

Monday was our anniversary.  I spent the day cleaning, folding, and planning dinner (I bought a Groupon for Marker 32).  John didn’t want anything that cost $$$ for our anniversary, so the best non-$$$ present I could think of was  to be able to come home and relax.  We spend so much time working, wearing out our dogs, cooking, cleaning, laundry, and trying to squeeze in working out.  There isn’t much time to enjoy life.  My present to John was to try and make his life more enjoyable (for at least a week).  I cooked for 4 hours yesterday so we could have healthy snacks and dinner without the work normally involved,  I vacummed until it overheated and quit on me, and I kept the dogs at the dogpark and extra 30 minutes so we could have a romantic evening without worrying that Tango was going to start NASCAR-ing it around the apartment.

Our dinner at Marker 32 was fantastic, and he even brought me home some beautiful roses:

They are in a blender bc we live in a small-kitcheded apartment until our house in Gainesville sells.  (Don’t worry, I still have all of my kitchen “power tools” for some serious cooking–just nothing “pretty”.)

FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS–Screen Calibration: Before & After

Posted on June 7, 2010

Today I calibrated my screen for the first time.  I rented the Spyder3Elite from The Lens Depot for $20.  WOW!!!  My screen (before) made everything look much brighter, more contrast, made the colors more vivid.  Great (for me).  Not so great for the people who are going to receive my prints.  I had a beautiful image on my end, however the end product was not what I had envisioned.   It isn’t a horrible difference, however I want my art to be the best it can be.

Please let me know if anyone has any questions.  There is plenty of info on the forums of DWF and OSP.

Snitch Needs a Home

Posted on June 2, 2010

My sister has unfortunately gone to live in a place where they don’t allow animals (or visitors without a picture ID) so my parents have full custody of their youngest grand-pup.  He’s about 8 months old, neutered, pitt cross.  He ADORES people and is learning to play with my two mongrels pretty well.  He’s crated while my parents work and sleeps in the bed with them at night.  He’s the kind of dog that beats you to death with his tail because he loves you so much, even if he just met you.  He definitely still needs some training, but he REALLY wants to please.  If anyone is interested, please shoot me an e-mail at: katie@katie-t.com

Christina & Alex were married this past Saturday at the Higdon House Inn in Greensboro, GA.  Aren’t they sweet?  :)

Jessica+Cameron=Wedding

Posted on June 1, 2010

Jessica & Cameron were married last Friday night at the beautiful Strawberry Creek Country Club in Kenosha, WI.  I originally met Jessica & Cameron through a local (Gainesville, FL) wedding coordinator: Angela @ Adore. When the wedding location moved from Florida to Wisconsin, they decided to keep me as their wedding photographer and fly me up to Kenosha, WI.  I’m not sure if this makes me a destination wedding photographer or not, but I had a great time and LOVE to travel.  Next time I make it up that way, I’m making a point to go to the Jelly Belly Factory, to Miller’s Brewhouse, and to see Lake Michigan.

Faythe Mesnic’s Shootgroup–April

Posted on June 1, 2010

I’m headed out to another one of Faythe’s great shootgroups today, so I figured I’d share last month’s.  Last month’s theme was “7 Deadly Sins”.  We had an (small) alligator, crazy colorful birds, a wolf, 2 humongous snakes (15′ & 20′), and a few insects that I’d rather never come in contact with again.  We shot at a graveyard in north Jacksonville and a local studio.  Today’s will be in Ponte Vedra–keep an eye out, those will be coming soon.  :)

PS.  Faythe is one of the leading makeup artists in the country and will be doing our makeup this weekend for TeaseME’s father’s day boudoir marathon.
